The term 'colts' is used to refer to junior/youth cricket teams; the Huntingdonshire Cricket Board run colts' cricket leagues in 2 year age bands. St Ives & Warboys organises its colts' teams to match this; these are based on age as at the previous 1st September and are organised as follows:

U9s

This age group is for school years 3 and 4. The team plays in the Hunts County U9 8 a-side league (Regional League South B). At this age, plastic 'incrediballs' are used rather than proper cricket balls and therefore players do not need to wear pads, helmets etc. However, in matches gloves and a box are required when batting or wicket keeping. The training is all about developing the basic skills required to play cricket.

Please note: All youth players both boy's and girl's need their own box (abdo guard) to use at training sessions and matches.

U11s

This age group is for school years 5 and 6. The team plays in the Hunts County U11 11 a-side league and the U11 8 a-side regional league (Regional League South). At this age, real 4 ¾ ounce cricket balls are used, so helmets, batting pads, gloves etc need to be used. Children can either bring their own equipment or can use the club's.

Please note: All youth players both boy's and girl's need their own box (abdo guard) to use at training sessions and matches.

U13s

This group is for school years 7 and 8. The team plays in the Hunts County U13 11 a-side league (Regional League South). At this age, 4 ¾ ounce cricket balls are used and therefore helmets, batting pads, gloves etc must be used. Children can either bring their own equipment or can use the club's equipment.

Please note: All youth players both boy's and girl's need their own box (abdo guard) to use at training sessions and matches.

U15s

This group is for school years 9 and 10. The team plays in the standard Hunts U15 League. At this age, full size 5 ½ ounce cricket balls are used so helmets, batting pads, gloves etc must be worn. Children can either bring their own equipment or can use the club's equipment. Some of the U15s may get the opportunity to play in one or more of our men's teams during the season.

Please note: All boy's MUST have their own box (abdo guard) to use at training sessions and in matches. We recommend girls wear them to but it is not a requirement
