ECB Guidance & Net Usage
Posted by Club Chairman on 20 May 2020
As many of you will have seen, the ECB have now published their guidance around the use of outdoor facilities, and in particular nets.
This guidance is very detailed and our aim by 22 May is to confirm our position for net usage at both the St Ives and Warboys grounds.
The guidance has some serious implications for the club if we don’t get this right, so we are quite rightly taking our time to ensure we consider all the advice. It is imperative that should we decide, or even be allowed to open the nets, we have the necessary agreements in place with the St Ives Outdoor Centre and Warboys Sportsfield Trust.
We also need to ensure we have all the required procedures in place to ensure that we protect not only all our members, but also the grounds staff at each location.
Discussions with the outdoor centre and the Warboys Sportsfield have already commenced and they are aware that we are looking at the option of opening up the nets. They have confirmed that they will only consider opening these once we have completed a full risk assessment and provided them with evidence to demonstrate how we will adhere to the ECB guidelines.
It is therefore imperative that the facilities at either ground are NOT used until this is obtained as any use in advance of this could jeopardise any decision.
I realise that everyone is keen to get some type of cricket played, all be it only practice, but please bear with us whilst we do this properly. The well-being of all our members, groundstaff, families and the general public has to be our first concern.
Keep well and keep safe.
